The Roussillon is one of France’s most seductive and captivating wine region. Once part of the kingdom of northern Spain, Roussillon is one of the most exciting wine regions in the world and has been shaped for centuries by nature, history and its people, with Perpignan as its beating heart.
Nestled within a natural amphitheatre open to the Mediterranean sea, Roussillon’s vineyards are surrounded by mountain ranges and benefit from an ideal climate, perfect for the cultivation of vines. The highly diverse soil and subsoil make for a multitude of terroirs with very different characteristics.
With 14 AOP and two IGP certifications, 24 different varietals, and the ability to produce dry still wines as well as Fortified Sweet Wines (Vins Doux Naturels), Roussillon offers a tantalising range of wines, each with its own unique character.
Roussillon has a strong viticultural heritage and this, combined with an ideal geographical location and climate, has allowed the region’s pioneering winemakers to be at the forefront of organic, biodynamic and sustainable practices.
